Birth Center Services


All low-risk women may give birth at the Carolina Community Maternity Center attended by Christine. Click here for a virtual tour of CCMC. Birth Center Services include:

PRENATAL CARE
  • Monthly and weekly prenatal visits with your midwife at the birth center, including lab work
  • Access to free early pregnancy and basic childbirth classes, and referrals for other childbirth and yoga classes available at the birth center
  • Referrals for ultrasound and visits with other healthcare providers

LABOR AND BIRTH
  • Continuous care by your primary midwife throughout the labor and birth at CCMC
  • A second midwife will be present for the birth as well
  • Availability of birth pool for labor and birth

POSTPARTUM CARE

  • Postpartum care at the birth center for 2-12 hours
  • Newborn exam and breastfeeding assistance
  • Education about self-care and newborn care
  • Postpartum check at 24-36 hours: at home for South Carolina residents, at the birth center or by phone for North Carolina residents
  • Four-day postpartum visit at the birth center, including Newborn Screening test
  • Daily phone consultation for 1-2 weeks
  • Six-week postpartum visit at CCMC


COST
  • We accept most insurances and SC Medicaid.
  • North Carolina Medicaid recipients may be eligible for special payment options.
  • Cash discounts are available.
  • Additional fees: Additional lab fees, consultation visits with other healthcare providers, $100 aquatherapy fee for birth pool supplies
